Inilah Sejarah Hari Santri Nasional 22 Oktober 2016
Merujuk pada FP Hari Santri Nasional 2016 Tanggal 22 oktober telah ditetapkan sebagai Hari Santri Nasional demi melihat kembali peristiwa bersejarah yang membawa bangsa Indonesia meraih kemerdekaan dari para penjajah.
Sejarah Sejarah Hari Santri Nasional bermula dari Resolusi jihad yang dicetuskan oleh Pendiri NU KH. Hasyim Asy’ari pada tanggal 22 oktober tahun 1945 di Surabaya untuk mengantisipasi munculnya kembali kaum penjajah kolonial belanda yang mengatas namakan diri mereka NICA.
KH. Hasyim Asy’ari sebagai ulama pendiri NU menyerukan jihad dengan menyatakan bahwa upaya “membela tanah air dari penjajah hukumnya fardlu’ain atau wajib bagi setiap individu”.
Seruan Jihad yang dikobarkan oleh KH. Hasyim Asy’ari berhasil membakar semangat para santri yang merupakan bagian dari Arek-arek Surabaya kaum pejuang kala itu untuk menyerang markas Brigade ke-49 Mahratta pimpinan Brigadir Jenderal Aulbertin Walter Sothern Mallaby.
Dalam pertempuran yang berlangsung selama 3 hari berturut-turut tanggal 27, 28, 29 Oktober 1945, Jendral Mallaby tewas bersama dengan lebih dari 2000 pasukan inggris yang menyertainya.
